North Korea fired a ballistic missile passing through Japanese airspace on Tuesday 29 August 2017 at 06.06 local times. The Japanese government announced that the missile crashed into the Pacific Ocean, about 1,180 km east of Cape Erimo, Hokkaido.

Although this missile passes through Japan, the Japanese government are not trying to shoot down the missile. However, this has led Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to activate the "J-Alert" warning system. In that case, the government has warned all its citizens to take precautions.

Because of the firing of these missiles, some countries have criticized and assumed that this is not just snapping from North Korea. This is a serious threat to International security.
